Ingredients for Russian Dressing.

If you’ve been poking around this site for any amount of time, you know that I’m a big proponent of homemade salad dressings. Everything from quick and easy lemon vinaigrette to buttermilk dressing and creamy caesar dressing. Let’s add one more to the repertoire.  Easy Homemade Russian Dressing.

The ingredients in this dressing are things that you’ve probably already got in your fridge and pantry, making this a real no-brainer. Making Russian dressing from scratch takes all of 5 minutes (if you’re a slow chopper) and only requires 4 ingredients (if you don’t count the salt and pepper).

How To Make Russian Dressing From Scratch:

This recipe makes a scant cup of dressing, that’s thick and creamy, slightly sweet with a tangy finish from the white wine vinegar… and don’t you love that salmon-pink color?

If you like a little heat, try adding some horseradish to pump up the spice. If you prefer sweeter flavors, a little pickle relish will do the trick.

The Russian dressing with a salad.

Don’t be pigeonholed by the word “dressing” either.  Yes, this is a great topping for a salad, but spooned onto a burger (a la the Big Mac’s special sauce) or a classic Reuben and it ties all the flavors together. It’s great spooned over grilled chicken or fish too — and we already know this easy homemade Russian dressing plays nice with vegetables.

Kroger used to have the best Russian Dressing and I used it to make the best and easy chicken recipe that everyone loved. They have discontinued it. This recipe looks just like the Kroger brand. Going to try it.
