How To Make German Goulash From Scratch

This easy German goulash recipe is basically a rich beef stew with Bavarian flavors like caraway & sweet paprika in a sour cream spiked sauce.

It starts by browning cubes of beef chuck roast in a large pot or dutch oven.

It starts with onions. A lot of onions. Sautéed until tender and practically translucent.

Then brown cubes of beef chuck roast in the same pot.

The seasoning blend is unique with caraway seed, sweet paprika and marjoram plus some kosher salt.

Add sautéed veggies, red wine & the spice blend to the beef & let it simmer in a low oven.

When the beef and veggies are tender, there's just one more ingredient to add.

A little sour cream adds richness and body to this comforting stew recipe.

Serve this German goulash over egg noodles or mashed potatoes. So good!
