How To Make Homemade Pomodoro Sauce

Homemade Pomodoro sauce is easy to make with a few simple ingredients.

It starts with canned crushed tomatoes -- use the best you can find.

Diced tomatoes, crushed garlic and fresh basil, flavor the pomodoro sauce.

Season with kosher salt, crushed red pepper and black pepper.

Sweat the onions, in olive oil, then add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes.

Remove the basil and puree the pomodoro sauce in a blender or food processor.

Add a pat of butter to finish the sauce. It makes it velvety and softens the acidity in the tomato sauce.
