How To Make Drunken Cherries

Drunken cherries are a boozy treat for snacking or for garnishing cocktails. The bonus is it makes a ruby red cherry liquor  too.

Assembling the cherries is easy. Just trim the cherry stems so there's about 1/4" remaining on the fruit.

You can make as much or as little as you like, there's no "set" recipe.

Pack the cherries into a sterile jar. (You can use pint sized jars or quart size).

Add sugar so it fills the jar by about 1/3 of the way.

Fill the jar completely with vodka and seal tightly.

Shake well to dissolve the sugar. Store in a cool, dark place and shake  every few days for at least 2 weeks.

After a few weeks, the cherries will be fully soaked and the vodka will be a ruby red color.
