Reusable food storage. That’s sensible.

In a world that’s largely disposable with single-use options abounding, reusable food storage bags make sense, right? Instead of going through box after box of plastic baggies that end up in a landfill — or worse, floating in some garbage heap in the middle of the ocean, Zip Top containers are reusable silicone bags that will help you reduce waste, while keeping your foods fresh.

I’m guilty of it. Using disposable plastic bags for storing leftovers or on the go snacks and then tossing them out when their use is up. In the back of my mind, I’ve always had a nagging bit telling me I could do better.

Why Zip Top containers
Instead of tossing away a plastic bag after one use, wouldn’t it be great if you could use them again and again? Yeah, reusable food storage. What a concept!
I’d heard about these cool Zip Top containers and was intrigued.
Then I watched their quick demonstration video. Comedy aside, I was hooked.
I love that they’re made of pliable silicone and of course are washable and endlessly reusable — but come on. What makes these silicone storage bags special?

I’ll admit it. I was skeptical, at first. Everyone “says” theirs is the best, right?
But, were they really sturdy? Did they hold the seal? Were they leak-proof? I wanted something stylish to last for years to come instead of just through today’s ham sandwich lunch.
What makes these reusable silicone bags better?
Zip Top containers are sturdy, thick and durable, unlike flimsy plastic baggies. They’re plastic free and made of 100% platinum silicone, which means they’ve got a very high tear strength, while also being very flexible.
These food grade storage containers are freezer safe, microwave safe and dishwasher safe.
In my view — that’s the trifecta!
You can literally store servings of my favorite Italian sausage soup or even beef stew with red wine in the storage bags, freeze them then nuke ’em and eat directly from the container for a quick on-the-go meal.
Pop ’em in the dishwasher when you’re done. That’s convenience, friends.

Just touch one of these silicone storage containers and you’ll immediately notice that they’ve got some heft. Nothing flimsy here. The zipper seal is super easy to close and because the bags are opaque, you can SEE what’s inside without having to open them up.
What sizes to they come in?
I think one of the smartest things about these Zip Top containers are the various styles and sizes they come in and consequently, the various ways you can use them.
Bags
There are two sizes of bags — a snack bag size and a sandwich bag style. I use the snack bags for chunks of cut fruit or a bunch of cherries or grapes to tuck into my purse for snacking. It’s also great for snack mixes.
Dishes
There are 3 sizes of dishes, small (2-cup), medium (3-cup) and large (4-cup) storage capacity. They have a flat bottom, which stands on its own and makes them really easy to fill. Plus you can eat right out of the containers.
My husband likes to take dinner leftovers to work for the next day’s lunch and these convenient, microwaveable dishes are his favorite things.
They’re also great for keeping salads fresh. Pro-Tip: Add salad dressing at the last minute, seal the bag and give it a good shake to toss — then enjoy the perfectly dressed salad right from the Zip Top container.
Cups
The cups come in 3 sizes as well, (1, 2 and 3 cup capacities), but they’re more vertical and perfect for snacking mixes, fresh fruit and liquids. I also use the smallest Zip Top cup to build yogurt parfaits for a post-workout pick me up. I Just stick them in my gym bag with a freezer pack and it’s ready to eat when I’m done exercising.

Zip Top color selection
Oh, and did I mention you’ve got a choice of colors?
What’s your favorite color?
They come in:
- Frost (shown)
- Gray
- Teal
- Peach
- Lavender
What Zip Top containers don’t have
They don’t have BPA, lead, PVC or phthalates. A very good thing.
And they don’t take up a lot of space. In fact, the full set of 8 silicone food storage containers fit into a box that measured 8 1/2″ x 8 3/4″ x 6″. I can easily find space, even in my tiny kitchen for these gems, cause they’re stackable.

Zip Top containers are for more than just food
Of course, these indestructible storage bags can be used for more than food storage. Here’s just a few ideas:
- Organize you junk drawer by tossing in those doodads and whats-its that accumulates over time. Hey, at least you’ll know where to look, right?
- Keep your beauty brushes, sponges and pads in one spot. Bonus — because it’s non-porous these silicone storage bags inhibit bacterial growth — ’cause I know you don’t wash your makeup sponges after every use.
- Got excess cords for phones and electronics. Coral them in one spot for easy access.
- If you’ve got random nails, screws, nuts, bolts and little loose items that are scattered around in your tool box and don’t have a “place” — they do now.

By the way, Zip Top ALSO has fun little on-the-go storage containers for your toddler as well as food grade safe storage for breast milk.
